What Was Blogging Like Before MyBlogLog?

mblog.gifI’ve realized that MyBlogLog is such an integral part of blogging these days, at least for me, that I wonder what it was like without it. I joined the blogging world kind of late — only three months ago — and couldn’t imagine my blog without it. Does that seem silly? I get all eager when I open up my page and see who’s stopped by to pay a visit. I think, “Hi everyone!” Hahaha…

MyBlogLog is cool because you don’t have to have a blog to register and be part of the community. You can cruise around the blogosphere and leave your mark and words wherever you want on blogs that install their widget. You can get creative and make your avatar cute, serious, funny, animated, dark, quirky, or just…yourself. Seeing the “face” behind the person who visits my blog creates a more personal feel when reading comments and interacting.

What was the blog world like for you guys pre-MBL? I’m just curious. And I don’t want to remove the MBL widget and MyAvatars plugin for the sake of finding out! Did MBL and programs like it boost blog activity significantly for you guys as publishers or as readers? I’m really just curious what it was like! Anyway, if you want to join my community or add me as a contact, just click here and leave me a message in MBL to let me know. I’ll add you back. I love MyBlogLog. :)

I’m curious why you took out your recent readers on the side bar? I kind of liked it. It gave a sense that I was part of the Ms. Danielle Community when I saw my picture. hah.

I ran my blog for about 2 months before installing MyBlogLog.
The biggest change for me now is when I log on to my site I start to see the same faces over and over in my recent reader section. I get a sense that there are some regular readers, and that motivates me more then a ‘return vs new visitor’ statistics.

that’s a great way to look at it. i don’t like to think of my readers as statistics either. i think it’s really motivating too. to see the activity sort of happen before your eyes helps you progress forward, at least for me

I found that I used MyBlogLog alot for a few weeks until I build up my list in my blog reader. I haven’t really been back much before. It did really kick start me finding blogs to read though.

i was hooked on it when i first discovered it. you really find some amazing sites just browsing through there. but it’s these kinds of communities that feed into my ADD… no bueno…

I joined MBL about 2 months ago, and I love it. I can find so many cool blogs through it, I found this blog through it :) , also I receive some good traffic through MBL as well, so I do not see my self getting rid of it any time soon.

I love mybloglog… it’s one of the biggest ways people get to my blog. plus I just love seeing faces and regular return readers. It’s the best part… they’ve become friends. Hey that’s my face on the top row in the middle!

I’m kinda new to this but pretty soon I will get the hang of it. You did a good job for being on for three months. I can only hope to see as well. We’ll see right?!

I had the widget on my site but then took it off. I found that most of my visitors aren’t members of mybloglog so every day only one or two new faces on there. I thought maybe that would look like not many people visitied my blog, so I took it down. But you never know, one day I may but it back up. :)

Well, hey back MsDanielle!

I just wanted to stop by since you commented me directly on John’s site. :p
I’ve also been lagging in the meta department. I’m going to tighten up some SEO this week, though.

Cheers to seeing you at the top of Google!

Scot

Like you, I have had it since I started my blog 2 1/2 months ago. I can’t imagine my blog without it as I also love seeing all the people that have been there recently. Gives me a chance to check out all their blogs as well.

I love MBL. I actually wrote a short article on my blog a while back about how MBL makes the internet feel smaller because it seems like no matter where you go you’ll find some obscure site with the MBL widget and see faces you recognize. The folks from MBL seemed to like my theory :)

Im sure that green lantern “enos” something is automatically browsing sites… sent a message asking that question but got no answer… in fact that user never seems to answer check his MBL profile…

Hey, that’s me in the bottom left corner of your MBL reader screen-cap!! Cool!

I’ve found MBL a HUGE help in getting my own relatively new blog off the ground. I’ve also met a lot of fellow bloggers, and read their stuff, via MBL. Including this fine blog here by Ms. D.

hi chris! yup, that’s you alright! :) thanks for always droppin by and checking in. i really love seeing familiar faces! and it’s like mike says above, it sort of makes the internet feel like a smaller place. there might be 200 or 300 people that land on my site on any given day, but if i see a familiar face, i think, “hey mike, what’s up?” or “hey, there’s chris!” :D

@jez – yea mr green lantern was here every few hours consecutively for a couple weeks. now gone… oh well :D bye mr green lantern!

BlogLog is the best thing in the world, next to BlogCatalog. I have met so many people through using it and is a great blog social tool. Before bloglog there was no real way to see who was visiting your site. I love using it and have the widget on my site.
