If you’re interested in tracking all of your target keyword phrases for each of your sites in one location, you might want to check out DigitalPoint’s Search Engine Keyword and Back Link Tracker. I use it to track the rankings of keywords for my blog as well as a few other sites I own. You’ll need to locate a Google API key first before creating your account, so good luck with that part. :)

Once you’ve created your account, login and start adding your URLs and keyword phrases. It’s an easy tool to use that provides valuable at-a-glance tracking information. Here’s a screen shot of a few keywords that MsDanielle is currently ranking for.

dpkeyword.gif

The keyword phrase is listed on the left, then URL, search engine, the keyword’s current ranking, the number of spots it’s changed in one day (green is positive movement, red is negative), then one week, then one month. The last check performed was on August 13th so there may have been some additional rank changes in the past few days.

Most SEOs probably use this tool already. But if you’ve never come across it before, I recommend checking it out. DigitalPoint also provides a number of other useful free tools, so feel free to snoop around their site. And if you’re looking for the forums, they’re here. Have fun! :D

This is pretty cool, and I’ve just fired off the link to this post to some old co-workers. They were looking for a tool just like this a few months back :)

I could be wrong but don’t you need your own Google API key for this?

Yes, you do need an API key, but if you have a Google account or Gmail, it isn’t hard to get one, they provide the link fo you on digital point.

Edit: They actually aren’t issuing API keys anymore, I guess I got mine while they still were. That makes this tool kind of obsolete unless you have a key from before.

you’re right, they’re not issuing keys anymore. but you can still use the one you got from before. and anyone who is willing to share a key can allow their friends to start their own accounts too. the tool is not obsolete at this point, only restricted unless you can find a key. shouldn’t be that hard since a lot of people probably have keys or have a friend who has one. it’s definitely worth asking around since i use this tool practically everyday.

Why would they quit issuing the API keys? That’s like saying “we’re not allowing any new users” isn’t it? I just don’t see how they can expect to grow and prosper if they don’t let new people join in.

This is a pretty cool all in one tool. I used it a bit in the past, and then kinda forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder. After all, tracking is key to success!

Sitening.com also has a similar tool called SERP Tracker. I am yet to see the results however as I only just tried it yesterday and it takes 24-48hrs to update.

Ms. Danielle,
Thanks for posting the link to the keyword tracker. It was exactly what I’ve been looking for. I would have thought I’d have seen that before after visiting that site many time and using some of their tools. Oh, well … I’m glad you found it.

Thanks again

There’s a site that I use called SEOGroup.com to track my Google SERP positions. You can submit up to 3 keywords per report and once it’s there, it’ll be displayed in a graph. The site link is http://seogroup.com/evaluation/ … Its definitly free to use and once it generate the report for you, there’s some helpful hints as well too. Hope this help anyone out there who’s looking for a free seo tool to use.
