Today I Am Five
Aug 8th, 2007 by msdanielle
Woohoo! Today, MsDanielle is five months old! I just wanted to say thank you to all of you who’ve stopped by, read something you enjoyed and commented, linked to me, or have in any way supported my venture that began in March. This blog has seen many faces come and go, and some that have actually stayed. I tip my hat to all of you who’ve inspired me, kicked me in the butt to keep going, or challenged me to be better.
Stats? Yes, I suppose, let’s get the stats out of the way.
Technorati: Rank 3,639 / Authority 747
For some reason or another, 747 other blogs have linked to MsDanielle, which results in my blog’s ranking to be under 5,000. I can now proudly stamp my blog with Technorati’s “Top 5K” badge…for now. Thank you to each and everyone of you who’ve willingly linked to my blog for whatever the reason.
Alexa: Rank 59,130 / Pages per user 2.6
This is probably one of the more shocking stats that I came across during this update. I know Alexa numbers are skewed, but for lack of a more far-reaching measurement, this is apparently my ranking out of all the web sites in the world. Amazing, I know, I’m still shocked too!
Google: Page Rank 4 / Back links 336
As I’m typing this, Google is updating its data centers to reflect everyone’s new page ranks. Page rank updates roll out over the course of a several days, and although I haven’t seen any changes yet in my page rank, I do see an increase in bank links from 212 to 336. This means since my blog has started, I’ve received an average of over two back links per day. Woohoo!
FeedBurner: Subscribers 222
I’m very flattered and humbled that 222 of you are currently subscribed to my blog. It’s an amazing feeling to be contributing to the online community in my own little way. My all-time high was reached on July 31st, with a whopping 228 subscribers. I’m hoping to continue growing this number, as it’s consistently been on the incline since day one. Thank you to all of you who are subscribed! This is the most important statistic that I look at, since I feel it accurately reflects reader interest and loyalty.
Content: Posts 121 / Comments 2,138
I feel much of the heart of my blog comes from the discussions that follow in the post comments. Before publishing this article, my blog has an average of 17.7 comments per post. I think that’s a great number, since in reality it could be zero! Thank you, thank you, thank you everybody for contributing comments, feedback, humor, personal experiences, and sometimes brainless banter to my blog.
I never know what to expect from what you all read, if you like my writings or hate them. Luckily, so far, you haven’t hated them! Another great thing about comments is that myself and others will almost certainly swing by your corner of the internet too, which creates a valuable exchange.
Future Goals
My goal from this point forward with my blog are pretty simple. Keep providing quality content, connect bloggers and other individuals through discussion, and grow my subscription numbers.
In addition, I’m aiming to focus this blog a little more on becoming a well-rounded PPC resource. I’d like to share my personal tips and experiences, as well as recommend other online resources I may come across. If you guys have any PPC questions, feel free to send them my way and perhaps I can publish the inquiries here — as long as I can come up with some useful information to share.
Special Thanks
These are some of the people who frequented MsDanielle the first month it was launched, and who still drop by regularly. Thanks, guys, for everything! Best wishes to all of you, and if there’s anything you need from me, you know how to find me!
Gary Lee — my long-time buddy and golf instructor. Yesterday we went to the range and I couldn’t even finish a medium-sized bucket due to severe food coma. Gary stepped in to finish the job. Note to self: no more In-n-Out Burger in the parking lot prior to play.
Jon Lee — The Web Developer. Jon has to be one of the most helpful, informative bloggers out there. He also makes really cool plugins which everyone should be using!
Ed Lau — Ed is just awesome. What else can I say?
Jez — A round of congratulations goes out to Jez, who is expecting a baby Jez. Jez and wife have been battling unbelievable weather as of late in the UK, so I send him and his growing family well wishes all around.
Kelly Cho — Kelly is another personal friend of mine who took blogging by storm. As I’ve always said, she’s a true blogger’s blogger. She tells it how it is, and it’s what makes her blog so endearing.
Nathan Drach — Natron, as he’s called, has always been a great contributor to this blog. His blog is pretty cool too, so I recommend you check it out. I’m sure you’ll get a chuckle out of something on his site!
Julie — Julie is one cool mom! I really like the new theme she upgraded to about a month or so ago. Julie blogs about all kinds of stuff, and has some really great stories you should check out. Keep on keepin on, sister!
Jimi — “Jimi” has a bunch of sites, so I’m not surprised that his JMH blog isn’t completely up to date. I still see him cruising around though, so I know he’s around. Jimi, how’s it going, man!?
Derrich — Derrich also found my blog early on and has been contributing now and then. I send my (early) congratulations to him, as he’s opening a new bar in San Antonio, Texas, called Retox. Get it? Re-tox?!
Saman Sadeghi — Surprisingly, Saman is not currently on the top of my Top Commentators list! When he’s not leaving comments on everyone’s blogs, he’s writing about Windows tips, tricks and hacks, and writing super long lists of…stuff I don’t understand.
Derek Semmler — Derek is my blog birthday buddy. Coincidentally we launched our blogs on the exact same day! Derek’s been having an interesting month, with his computer CD-ROM blow-up and Digg spike. I wish something of mine would blow up so I could be a Digg victim too!
Jeff Kee — What can I say about Jeff that you guys don’t already know from his own comments?
Jeff’s 90% endearingly creepy contributions have been the source of a lot of humor and I’m grateful for his visits. The other 10% of comments is very useful stuff too. But I definitely agree with the epithet that was bestowed upon him — The Ambitious.
Nick aka Spud — Our buddy Spud also deserves congratulations — and a cigar! He’s another new daddy, and very proud of his new baby boy Rikuto. Nick, how’s the daddy life so far??
Hone Watson — Hone is my SEO buddy from down under. I do see him drop in now and then to check in on me. Hi Hone!
He’s wished me luck since the start and I appreciate the well wishes.
Please go visit my friends and say hi. Without a network of other supporters, no blog would ever last. I appreciate my little blog network and hope you’ll all find connections with them as well. We’d all be nothing without each other. Cheers to another five months, and more!!

Congrats Danielle! Great stats and yes Alexa is very skewed for tech blogs but it doesn’t stop me from telling people “I’m the 50,000th most popular site on the internet!”

Wow, I wondered about those stats and it’s only 5 months old. Amazing that you got a PR4 within your first 2 months, that’s pretty solid. The top 5,000 in Tech is great too. I want to know you secrets.
it’s a ninja secret….passed down through the generations….i could tell you, but then…you know…
I know the secret, I know the secret, nah-nee-nah-nee…*blowdart*
Nice one Dani! It’s amazing how quickly you’ve climbed up the rankings! Where will you be in another five months???
To answer your question, “daddy life” is a whole new experience and I’m enjoying every waking minute… but I’d prefer to get some sleep!
awwww… give the little one a kiss on the forehead from all of us
Should be around 250 posts and PR8
Yeah I’m looking forward to the arrival of first sprog too, should be fun, everyone I know who has one highly recommends them
Thanks for link Danielle…
you do me proud D
thanks, teach…
Congrats MsDannielle!
Wow, that’s a lot of comments. My current average is about 0.35 comments per post. I’ll have to have a contest or something to encourage people to comment more.
u don’t necessarily need a contest to get more comments…just keep commenting around, make connections, and keep presenting your articles in a manner that encourages exchange. but a contest wouldn’t hurt

Congrats on all of the success Danielle, it is all very well deserved. I’m going to be a day late on my blogiversary post but I think that might be a good thing because your stats are kickin’ my rear!

i know i’ve seen a few people leave behind their blogs in this short time. glad we’re still running side by side
Absolutely! Hopefully we will be celebrating our blog birthdays together for quite some time.
Congrats on your 5 months, and thanks for the mention..
This ambitious genius is ripping his own head out, and hoping to do the same to Bill Gates and his team – my main laptop got KO’d today by a virus and is completely immobilized… It’s so bad, and all my efforts failed to revive it… Ugggh.
sorry to hear it, man. i hope you’re able to recover your data. so many great things happening for you — to be paused by a technical failure would be terrible!
thanks mike and scot — glad to see you guys here!
Congrats on your terrific progress!
I just came upon your blog because of the Rockin Girl contest. I haven’t had a chance to read anything but this post, but, I did want to give my congratulations!
