Mourning the Loss of Life: Virginia Tech University
Apr 17th, 2007 by msdanielle
Let’s all take a moment to stop our busy schedules and mourn the loss of innocent lives, the outcome of a senseless tragedy that occured yesterday at Virginia Tech University. As of now, there are 33 confirmed deaths. Being all the way over here in Los Angeles, I can’t help but feel there’s nothing I can do but mourn and keep the victims and their families in my thoughts. I can feel the tears welling up as I think about these poor parents, husbands, wives, children, and friends of those who died. Images of Columbine pop into my mind. I can only imagine the horror felt by the surviving witnesses and victims; and this is only the beginning.
If anyone knows if there is a way that the rest of us can help these families by donating or other means, please let me know so I can publish the information and help spread the word. Anything to help ease the burden from the victims’ families… Thank you for taking the time to read this post.
Update! Garry Conn has written about a horrific new “trend” going on — domain squatters are purchasing the domain names of the VTU victims and making money off of them! Read Garry’s post about what this means. You can also visit the Virginia Tech Tragedy page for additional information, and help raise the red flag on this disgusting phenomenon. Hopefully we can get Virginia Tech to purchase the rest of the domains to protect the families from further suffering and abuse. We need to stop this now!

That’s just freakin’ sick! People are actually squatting VTU victim names!?
What the hell is wrong with the world…
yea i sent an email to VTU letting them know what’s going on. hopefully someone there receives it. garry mentioned that VTU purchased the shooters domain… so i think they should purchase the victims’ to help protect them
I have read Garry Conn and left a comments that these people are basically lack of compassion and empathy. People with money consuming them would not have capabilities to see, feel, touch, smell and hear the agony and sorrow around them. Only people like us, individually or join force with other like-minded people, will make the world a better place.
The first I heard about the shooting was on this blog! I live in Japan, and make a conscious effort not to watch the news. Usually because it’s either depressing, negative or biased. I just assume that if it’s important, I’ll hear about it somehow, as is the case here.
i know there are tons of “causes” that we can be campaigning for, but i chose this one because of the magnitude, and also since it’s just happened, hopefully people will be more ready to help. if any of you can put a banner or link on your blogs to the VTU donation page, that might help too if your blog isn’t one that you’d be able to post a whole message. thanks everyone!
