I Am No Sarah Jones: An Homage

sjones.jpg

I am no Sarah Jones

I saw a vision of pure beauty and strength
And her name was Sarah Jones
Assured, confident, and eloquent
She was a true woman’s woman

Now I am no Sarah Jones
Not by any means even close
No Tony to tout, or New York Times acclaim
But I’m a woman just the same

Your revolution will not happen between these thighs
Is what I heard her proclaim
She didn’t have to repeat it but she did

And we all stood

And we applauded

And no, we’re not her, but she is us

This is my homage to Sarah Jones. Brought to you by Mr.GaryLee, QMusings, and Stretsh. I want my ladies Kelly and Marisa to keep this meme going. We might not all be poets, but we’re writers and we have something to say. Say it however you want. You don’t have to be tagged to write a poem. Peace.

thanks, guys! this was actually a really great writing exercise. i was hesitant when i saw gary called me out, but then i just said screw it. i won’t progress in my writing if i don’t take some chances. i don’t regret it at all. makes me feel proud :)

You should feel proud! I felt the same way about writing and trying my hand at poetry. When I realized, hey, *I* like my poetry and it resonates within me, who cares! There is something to be said about taking chances and being true to yourself. Be true to yourself and those who admire you will admire YOU, not some facade. Great going!
