How Not to Swing a Golf Club
May 26th, 2007 by msdanielle
Here’s the video clip of my golf swing from this past Tuesday. It was my second golf lesson from Gary and I don’t think it’s all too terrible, considering. Two cool things that happened were 1. I didn’t wake up feeling all sore like last time, and 2. I could feel where I needed improvement. I sent the video to my friend Jeni who said, “Wow! You look like a pro! But did the ball shoot way off to the right?” Yes Jeni, sadly, it did. The video is 3 seconds long. Enjoy!
And if you want to see some really great golf swings, check out these short YouTube videos of Tiger Woods and Michelle Wie.

Hide the ball and you have a great looking swing!

Ha ha! Thanks for the laughs! Hey, at least you can hit the ball which is more than I can do!
Nice swing! But the club almost looks too heavy for you!
That’s a very smooth swing with some nice follow-through. You’ll be pro in no time
heehee… thanks guys! feel free to leave a link to your golf swing videos too!
I have never loved and loathed anything simultaneously so much as golf.
I used to think golf was a rich man’s game but I also started taking lessons a while back finding it really really fun game. You look like you are on the right track, enjoy!
I think I watched that vid about 20 times. *psycho* Kidding. Not bad. You definitely don’t “swing like a girl”. I look forward to the day we do battle.
You have to follow through with your legs. Remember to turn your hips. Twist your back foot if you want, kind of like this. Just think about how you’d swing a baseball bat when you’re just trying to make contact.
Once you do that, you should be pulling the ball forward with you. Also, it looks like you turned your right wrist out a bit. Just let it follow through naturally. You’re not trying to actually direct the club with that hand…just with your left.
If it helps, try just swinging the club with your left hand. Then add your right once you start hitting the ball straight. This helped me out immensely.
Hope that helped.

thanks daniel! i have a big problem getting the swing to be smooth. do you play a lot? i’m realizing a LOT more people play golf than i’d ever guessed. last week Gary was helping me get that “pull” that you’re talking about. i can get each move down, but putting them together and making it feel like one motion is really hard!
I keep saying I should pick golf up, great way to get out of work early and meet business contacts. Just seems boring to me, never been a sports guy.
You’re missing out. Try hitting a few buckets of balls and see if you get bit by the bug.
Thats how it starts, im sure you’ll be a pro in no time
