Google Launches AdSense Mobile
Sep 18th, 2007 by msdanielle
Google has officially announced the launch of AdSense ads for mobile devices, claiming it is “part of our ongoing efforts to develop new ways for users to find the information they need anytime and anywhere.”
Advertisers can advertise to users on the go, and publishers can earn profits from their mobile sites. At first thought, I see this as more of a benefit to advertisers than users, with publishers gaining profits depending on users who actively click on ads. With such little space on screen, an ad could take up a significant amount of space. I’ll have to look into this more as the product is being tested.
But with all the talk recently of a Google phone, it wouldn’t surprise me that they are designing a mega mobile advertising system, should they actually release the phone into market.
What are your initial thoughts on this? What would be your reaction if all of a sudden AdSense ads began appearing on the sites you browse on your phone? And what markets are left for Google to dominate? Maybe they’ll launch GMusic, the alternative to iTunes. The mobile version would allow users to download GSongs directly to their phones so Google can make even more money off us! ![]()

HA that’s amazing, although many people will start to complain once again about how much we get bombarded by advertisement.. then they’ll get used to it…
i agree. it’s one of those things we’ll eventually be blinded to i suppose…as users…
I agree with you, Jeff. I’ll be guilty as charged…but it’ll soon become a normal part of the process. I’d say I use my phone to surf about 40% of the time.
As a web surfer, I think this sucks!
As a blogger, I think this is great! Now to find the time to create a mobile compliant site….
ha! you are one savvy blogger/surfer/developer, saman! exactly the mindset of an entrepreneur too… “what…adsense for mobile!? i better build a site QUICK!”
It will never work, the mobile screen is just to small to handle advertising. People will get frustrated and will only surf at ad free sites.
I agree, David. I don’t see how most phones would have the screen real estate available to for ads without really taking away from the user experience. I have a feeling/hope that most people who develop mobile compliant sites will stay away from this.
Maybe the screen is too small now, but they will find a way to install advertisement. Try to imagine a market without ads…impossible.
This would be a good addition. I don’t know if the earning is as good as the regular adsense.
