Flashback Friday Volume 6
Aug 3rd, 2007 by msdanielle
I’ve mentioned to some of you before that I’m not a “list person.” Well, that’s not entirely true. I do keep mental lists of my top favorite bands, restaurants, DJs, live shows, cuisines, and of course, songs. You might be surprised, but this is my number one favorite song of all time. I remember seeing this video when it first came out and I thought it was so cool! And I’m sure a lot of you remember this video too. Feel free to get up and dance to this one — think Carlton from Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
Enjoy!
Name That Eighties Band!
Go ahead, name ‘em!

1. Tears For Fears
2. Duran Duran
3. Wham
4. Eurythmics
Although you didn’t ask for it, if somone reading your post doesn’t know. The video is “Take on Me” and the group is Ah-A. Although most of the younger generation probably know the video from the Family Guy spoof.

oh man! that was the funniest video ever! i kept replaying it last night over and over again. the best part is at the end. “chris, where have you been?” “i don’t KNOOOW!”
That was easy MsDanielle. Lyndon seems to be an 80s person.
Why don’t we add some twist into this Friday flashback fun? Name at least one famous song of each of the featured bands.
1. TFF - Mad World
2. Duran Duran - Girls on Film
3. Wham - Wake Me Up Before You Go Go
4. Eurythmics - Here Come the Rain Again
Msdanielle glad you enjoyed the video!
Yes Arnold I am an 80’s person
Well it’s when I grew up, plus I’m a bit of a music geek! To add to your list, here’s my favorite songs from the groups mentioned.
1. TFF - Everybody Wants To Rule The World (I didn’t know about Mad World until Gary Jules covered it)
2. Duran Duran - Hungry Like A Wolf (Although my favorite from them is Ordinary World, released in the 90’s)
3. Wham - Wake Me Up (Same as you)
4. Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams
Later…
i have to give it up for these………..
1 TFF - Shout
2 DD - Rio (i think bc i like the video)
3 Wham - Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go
4 E - Sweet Dreams OR Here Comes the Rain Again
That is a cool video. It actually tells a story, unlike the videos of today where they just show a bunch of people (usually scantily clad) dancing around. I like watching music videos when they tell a story, especially the same story as the song.
The 80s totally gave way to “story” music videos. Take On Me is probably one of the best… next to Michael Jackson’s Thriller of course.
What! No Thompson Twins!
And I vote for http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUjIA3Rt7gk - A Flock of Seagulls - I Ran. It’s such a classic. I’m gonna steal the guitar guys glasses. They are pretty pimp.
gotta love the pvc and eye makeup. 80s was all about over the top excess. great song!
@nick - you’ve seen this video before, yes? it really is a great video!
@chris - i heart the eighties…
I was just listening to our version of Flashback Friday on the radio. And of course, all of these groups were featured…
…I think I only knew three of the four! That is quite disappointing being that I listen to the 80’s pretty much all day, every day!
[…] but not least, Ms. Danielle is taking us back to the 80s in her most recent Flashback Friday. The 1980s were definitely a fun time with songs that couldn’t possibly get out of your head […]
…I can’t believe you made an ’80s post without tthese guys.
see Jack’s comment above also
lol
AH-HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
