Hi there,

First, I have to compliment you on your blog–very interesting and fun! I found you based on your interview with Gyutae over at Winning the Web.

I tell ‘ya, meeting your heroes can sometimes be very disappointing. I worked at a newstand in Van Nuys back in the 80’s, and we had celebs coming in all the time. Most of the time, we treated them like any other customer (which they appreciated).

Anyway, one day Gene Simmons drives up and hops out of his car. I had actually met him a few years prior at a friend’s album release party, and he was cool.

I decided to actually greet him by name, so I said “How’s it going, Mr. Simmons?”. Total silence. He sort of just glared at me, paid me for the magazine, and pretended I didn’t even exist.

I was bummed, but I made a promise to myself that whatever level of success I achieve, I would never treat people like that. So I guess it worked out just fine. =)

Again, really enjoy the blog!

I am a mediocre fan. I was a little put off recently when I saw one of their documentries and they came across as big old whinning babies1

But…. I was working at a festival many years ago and I had used my silly little workers badge to talk my way back stage. I was wondering around and I just so happened to look down and realised I had nearly stepped on Kirk (he is a tiny tiny man!)! Well maybe not stepped on him but I did see him and I thought ‘Ah cool, I’ll go say Hi’. I walked towards him and this huge bodyguard jumped infront of me cross armed. I said ‘I just wanna say hi’ and the guard just stared me down. Kirk looked at me and shrugged his shoulders giving a ’sorry man, cant do anything about it’ look.

So I guess I have respect for him doing that, bloody security guard.

Nice pic, D. One of my fav Metallica tunes too. And if I’m not mistaken, “One” was the band’s first video they ever made. Creepy creepy stuff.

So did you ever get yourself some drum lessons? Or at least the most important lesson: drumstick twirling!

music does that. sometimes when i’m really frustrated in traffic i throw on some super aggro drum n bass. it doesn’t help
i should try down tempo actually

Yeah, it’s so sad to see sometimes.

I did get revenge on Beckham. I was a ball boy in a game when he was playing for the Manchester United under 21’s team. The ball came my way so I picked it up and threw it back at Beckham as hard as I could. It’s a shame I was only 11 years old and Beckham wasn’t as big a star as he is now, else that ball would have been aimed at his head!
