Dang It! I Lost My Camera!

canon-camera-lost.gifYea yea…it’s so cliche, I lost my camera on New Year’s Eve. Blah. Anyway, time to get a new one. Any suggestions? It was the Canon SD600 that I took to Griffith Park and took these pictures with.

What camera would you buy if you lost yours? I’m thinking of getting a replacement, like an SD1100 or something. Sigh…Thanks!

Damn, sorry to hear about your camera! I actually ended up dunking my SD400 briefly into the ocean on my honeymoon. Boo!

I ordered a replacement which is on the way though. SD1100 just like you mentioned. Got a great price on it here in Vancouver, $139.99! Enjoy ASW, wish I was there too! ;)

I’m not sure what your budget is, but I prefer Nikon products and for a medium cost camera, I’d suggest the Nikon D40 SLR camera. They’re pretty awesome for the price.

thanks jt, i will check out nikon. i’ve been partial to Canon, but i’m open to compare the two brands. i’m looking for a point-and-shoot first though before i move to bigger and more snazzy equipment :D

Love Canons for the pocket variety. I have one as well. But I also have a D80, which is teh greatness! I second the SD1100 as a pocket replacement.

Check out the slim/ultra compact camera review at dpreview – http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/Q408slimgroup/page15.asp. Both cameras that were deemed winners (Canon SD 790 IS and Panasonic DMC-FX37) look very nice. And of course you can’t go wrong with Canon ;)

The worst part is that now we don’t get to see your drunken New Year’s Eve shots!

Anyway, I’m hoping to buy a Canon SD880IS in the real near future so that would be my suggestion.

I’ll be sure to do that if/when I get it. I know already that it will probably be at least sometime in Feb before I can get it…

I bought a canon SD880is and it is really sweet. Most of the new gen cameras all have face detection, image stabilization and the like. So the choices can be confusing. But canon has the fastest operating mechanisms on the market. And the power up to shot speed as well as shot to shot are great. No missed moments. Also, the movie mode is QT native, so there is no conversion issues like with the Sony cameras. It only has a 4x zoom, and not a 5 like on the Sony, but I like the lens better, and it links up with my canon printer extremely well.

If you need the megapixels, the SD880 is hard to beat, but for size and reliability, and best of all, the low low price under $200, the SD1100 is absolutely the best camera on the market. Plus it comes in so many stylish colors :P

yea and on amazon the sd1100 pink comes with a nifty photo printer for $199 total :D
but yea i hear canon’s have better lenses, and overall, i’d rather have that than a higher zoom rate
