canon-sd600.gif

OK I thought it was funny when I discovered ShoeMoney and I had the same camera at BlogWorld, a Canon PowerShot SD600. Yes, the exact same camera. Well, in no time we were all whipping out our cameras for photo opps and it was soon apparent that we all love Canon!

John Chow has a Canon, Gary has a Canon, it seemed like a bunch of us had Canon cameras. Soon we were all joking that Canon is the official blogger’s choice for cameras.

Well at dinner, the camera woman at Benihana’s walked up to John Chow’s side of the table and asked if they wanted a picture. John asked what type of camera it was. She said cheerfully, “Nikon.” John says in a stern voice, “Nikon! Go away!” Silence as the woman slowly turns and walks away…

We all laughed because we got the inside joke, but I felt a little bad for the camera lady. Well, guess it’s her fault for having a Nikon! jk ;)

What type of camera do you have? I’ve always trusted my Canon. I wouldn’t trade it for any other brand. Canon rules!

Dinner recaps and pictures:

Love the Canon. I have a Canon IXY 1000 … although it`s sold under a different name outside of Asia, you might know it as the SD900.

http://www.dpreview.com/news/0609/06091404_canon_sd900.asp

I`ve had it almost a year and love it although the new one is out now so i might buy myself and early xmas present and give this one to the parents when i`m back there over the holidays.

Here’s the new one from Canon …. not sure if it’s available outside Japan though …

Selling for 39,500 Yen and Yodobashi … a bargain.

My wife and I got a SD600 last Christmas.
I am a photographer and been shooting Canon forever. Nikon would be the only other choice.

Lol, I’ve got an older Canon Poweshot S30 if I remember correctly. I have to admit that lately I have really been wanting to pick up a Nikon D40 or the D80, although I would likely go with another Canon if I wanted more of a “pocket” camera to carry around.

awe ya cannon sd600 is the bomb. I have a sd1000 that I use for vacation and fam stuff but my conference camera is the sd600. The one I am using now I use it for all the videos on my site (that are at conferences) and they look better then most people with just video cameras.

So here I am with an HP and wondering why I wasn’t hanging out with the cool kids-NOW I know! Actually Canon makes a great easy to use product, but what I want to know is-Did you visit Tech Selector dot com at the show? You should all take the test and see if they recommend a canon for you, then you would know its more than a camera-its destiny.

I had a Canon… until I left it in a downtown Chicago hotel in July after a Web hosting convention.

If anybody happens to be at the Sheraton in Chicago and you find a camera, please let me know. :)

I’ll be purchasing a new camera soon and I’ll probably go with a Canon. That’s what I’ve always used.

I like the small canon cameras like the one you show on this post, but I don’t think they’re as handy when you’re taking a lot of pictures on one charge.

I purchased a SONY camera because they’re also small, but some allow BATTERIES. I take carrying some batteries over no power at all, ANY DAY! :)

i took mine to bali and didn’t have to charge it for i think 2 1/2 or 3 days. overall, i took about 600 pictures. but yea, it doesn’t take batteries. i had a sony u60 i think it’s called, the little one, a long time ago. didn’t like the quality. but it was only 2mp and it was super tiny

The Canon versus Nikon rivalry has been going on forever. Glad to see it’s spilling over to the blogger space but what a mean comment by JC to that poor lady! Next time I see him, I am going to give it to him! :)

Canon’s have more bells and whistles that’s for sure. As a company, Nikon is much slower to adapt to new technology until there is a mass market demand. Either way, both brands definitely have a good market share in the imaging space.
So what do I have? Both, for film and digital. It’s the person behind the camera that takes good photos, not the gear. What makes the car go? The person or the gas? :)

I actually have the last film Canon SLR before camera technology went fully electronic and one of the later film Nikons before digital came along. Sad to say, the film cameras are in storage except for the odd days when I want to hear a real shutter go off :)

I do have a fantastic Canon 2 Megapixel camera that still takes wonderful pictures. It’s been all over the world with me and have captured some unforgettable memories. In fact, I am thinking about putting together an online gallery for 2.0 Megapixel images only! LOL

My main gear these days is a Nikon dSLR. :) Check out some AdTech San Fran photos here:
