Canon is the Unofficial Bloggers’ Choice for Cameras
Nov 13th, 2007 by msdanielle

OK I thought it was funny when I discovered ShoeMoney and I had the same camera at BlogWorld, a Canon PowerShot SD600. Yes, the exact same camera. Well, in no time we were all whipping out our cameras for photo opps and it was soon apparent that we all love Canon!
John Chow has a Canon, Gary has a Canon, it seemed like a bunch of us had Canon cameras. Soon we were all joking that Canon is the official blogger’s choice for cameras.
Well at dinner, the camera woman at Benihana’s walked up to John Chow’s side of the table and asked if they wanted a picture. John asked what type of camera it was. She said cheerfully, “Nikon.” John says in a stern voice, “Nikon! Go away!” Silence as the woman slowly turns and walks away…
We all laughed because we got the inside joke, but I felt a little bad for the camera lady. Well, guess it’s her fault for having a Nikon! jk
What type of camera do you have? I’ve always trusted my Canon. I wouldn’t trade it for any other brand. Canon rules!

Love the Canon. I have a Canon IXY 1000 … although it`s sold under a different name outside of Asia, you might know it as the SD900.

I`ve had it almost a year and love it although the new one is out now so i might buy myself and early xmas present and give this one to the parents when i`m back there over the holidays.
yea…DPreview is the best!! dang, 10mp, nice camera!
Here’s the new one from Canon …. not sure if it’s available outside Japan though …

Selling for 39,500 Yen and Yodobashi … a bargain.
John Chow is EVIL!
It’s a little meen to the woman right? Nice camera though…

-Maria Sharapova
LOL woot woot!!
Haha, I have a Canon too. The best part was that the lady just ran away and didn’t even question anything…. we also never saw her again the whole night.
man, we all coulda done a blogger’s advertisement for Canon! haha… poor camera lady
camera lady, if you read any of these blogs, sorry!! nikon isn’t that bad!
I wish i could have taken a picture of her face after John told her off . . . rolling eyes and steam coming out of her nose . . . she was totally embarassed
My wife and I got a SD600 last Christmas.
I am a photographer and been shooting Canon forever. Nikon would be the only other choice.
Lol, I’ve got an older Canon Poweshot S30 if I remember correctly. I have to admit that lately I have really been wanting to pick up a Nikon D40 or the D80, although I would likely go with another Canon if I wanted more of a “pocket” camera to carry around.
ok so…
neil duckett — canon
gyutae park — canon
zac johnson — canon!
james — canon. with runner-up as nikon
derek — going to buy a canon
looks like it’s unanimous! or the non-canon-friendly bloggers aren’t representin!
umm . . .please post an affiliate link to a canon camera
I always love Canon. I have a Canon Powershot A710is for a year now.
by tomorrow morning this page is going to be ranking for “canon powershot”
You should link to a product page for the camera and throw an aff link in there
I have a Sony =D. I’m proud of it!
eek!

awe ya cannon sd600 is the bomb. I have a sd1000 that I use for vacation and fam stuff but my conference camera is the sd600. The one I am using now I use it for all the videos on my site (that are at conferences) and they look better then most people with just video cameras.
Cannons unite!
almost all of my youtube videos get 5 stars…and these are LOUD ass concerts…
So here I am with an HP and wondering why I wasn’t hanging out with the cool kids-NOW I know! Actually Canon makes a great easy to use product, but what I want to know is-Did you visit Tech Selector dot com at the show? You should all take the test and see if they recommend a canon for you, then you would know its more than a camera-its destiny.
jerri . . you work for yahoo and you don’t have a mybloglog avatar? what’s really going on?
she works for right media. she’s rebelling against the yahoo takeover
not exactly HD quality but don’t forget these things shoot video too! This was shot on a Canon SD630: http://youtube.com/watch?v=vt_fxnms8AQ
awesome video. parts of it remind me of when i visited bali. those motor bikes are scary, especially during rush hour
Goooo Canon. Sd700 is one of the best cams on the market. 600s are good too. Canonfanboys (& girls) unite!!!! Weeee are the chaaaampions my friend and weeeell keep on fighting til the ennddd!!!
I don’t have a serious camera or anything, but, Sony. I got what I believed was the best camera for my money (I couldn’t afford tons) and besides, I loved how it looked. It’s pink.
I had a Canon… until I left it in a downtown Chicago hotel in July after a Web hosting convention.
If anybody happens to be at the Sheraton in Chicago and you find a camera, please let me know.
I’ll be purchasing a new camera soon and I’ll probably go with a Canon. That’s what I’ve always used.
man, that sucks. sorry to hear that. maybe we can get canon to sponsor us bloggers since we love them so much and u can get one for free
@Tay - if every camera maker made a pink version of their most popular products, they’d be SO money!
Canon-Blog.com is avaliable.
I can see who John Chow is going to be approaching next for a competition prize…
the entries will kill his server
lol
woot woot! go canon!!
i’d love to see if a canon contest would actually kill his server…..
maybe i should contest one away?? idea!!! hahaha…
If you do, I get credit and five entries.

It crossed my mind yesterday after seeing how cheap the new 2000is was …. could make for a nice Xmas present for someone.
I also use Canon but I really interest on Sony Cybershot .. DOn’t have enough money to buy it…
I am a poor blogger. HUhuhuhu
Canon is indeed the best. Still taking most of my pictures with the old PowerShot S45
I like the small canon cameras like the one you show on this post, but I don’t think they’re as handy when you’re taking a lot of pictures on one charge.
I purchased a SONY camera because they’re also small, but some allow BATTERIES. I take carrying some batteries over no power at all, ANY DAY!
-Mike
i took mine to bali and didn’t have to charge it for i think 2 1/2 or 3 days. overall, i took about 600 pictures. but yea, it doesn’t take batteries. i had a sony u60 i think it’s called, the little one, a long time ago. didn’t like the quality. but it was only 2mp and it was super tiny

If you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! One of the best things about living in Japan is the access to the latest and greatest technology. Whether it’s phones, iPods, computers or digital cameras that fl…
Real photographers use Nikon.
I love my D50.
Whoo I’m a proud owner of a D50 too
Both film.
As backup I have a Nikon F401 and a Nikon EF
damn I have 2 nikon cameras
that equals one canon — juuuuust kidding
The Canon versus Nikon rivalry has been going on forever. Glad to see it’s spilling over to the blogger space but what a mean comment by JC to that poor lady! Next time I see him, I am going to give it to him!
Canon’s have more bells and whistles that’s for sure. As a company, Nikon is much slower to adapt to new technology until there is a mass market demand. Either way, both brands definitely have a good market share in the imaging space.
So what do I have? Both, for film and digital. It’s the person behind the camera that takes good photos, not the gear. What makes the car go? The person or the gas?
this topic got a lot more reactions than i was expecting. that’s cool you shoot film. which camera is for which?
I actually have the last film Canon SLR before camera technology went fully electronic and one of the later film Nikons before digital came along. Sad to say, the film cameras are in storage except for the odd days when I want to hear a real shutter go off
I do have a fantastic Canon 2 Megapixel camera that still takes wonderful pictures. It’s been all over the world with me and have captured some unforgettable memories. In fact, I am thinking about putting together an online gallery for 2.0 Megapixel images only! LOL
My main gear these days is a Nikon dSLR.
Check out some AdTech San Fran photos here:

nice pics. i never saw that post. singaporean fusion? did you eat at Straits Cafe on geary? that’s one of my fave singaporean restaurants in SF. you make a good point about how vendors need to create an engaging booth at conferences. i had sort of the same feeling at BWE and there definitely weren’t 300 booths there
shutters are cool.
oops i guess i did see that post! in may… lol
i have a bad memory…
LOL, you made me laugh. And not sure about the name of the Singaporean restaurant. I just know there are more restaurants in SF than people!
[…] to Ms Danielle, bloggers wage an all out war against Nikon and other non-Canon camera […]
ahh…i got mine this year. A budget type Canon power shot A710 IS. Great for close up shooting and looks good too!

All my gear is Canon too…I have a 1D Mark II and a SD800IS.
