And I savored every moment of it.

Angelica, Jeni and I hit up the Hollywood Bowl this past Sunday evening for the last of our Summer Series events. Paul Oakenfold and UnderWorld. Paul took the stage first, did his DJ thing, with a random fluttering of leaves and wavy female silhouettes on the big screens behind. It was a decent set, but nothing overly exciting.

After his set was done, there was an intermission while UnderWorld got the stage set up. When the lights dimmed, we went wandering around the lower aisles to goof around and dance circles around the ushers who were trying to pretend like they weren’t ex-ravers. One usher actually pulled this thing out of his pocket that looked like a toy with glowing blue lights attached to it to show to us. He probably didn’t even care if he got paid for working. LOL Fun times.

Here are a few video clips from the show. My apologies that the third clip is so shaky, I was trying to escape the throngs of people in the aisle, scooting up a flight of stairs backwards…it eventually steadies when I make it to the landing. In the last clip, “Born Slippy,” you can actually hear my friend Jeni yelling out the lyrics. :D Surprisingly, I haven’t seen any other video clips from this show on YouTube yet (unlike Daft Punk and Groove Armada). Enjoy!

On a side note, I wanted to post a video clip of the Dave Brubeck quartet performing “Take Five” for you guys but it’s on Jeni’s camera. That was a spectacular show, also at the Hollywood Bowl, from a couple weeks back. They also performed a beautiful rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” but I couldn’t record it because Jeni’s camera ran out of memory. Oh well. Use your imagination. And when you’re imagining them, make sure they have big smiles on their faces and have lots of energy — that’s how they were on stage.

It was a great summer. Not the most spectacular, but definitely not the worst. I will miss the endless number of events and parties that pop up all over the place. There’s never a lack of things to do in LA from May to September. I hope you all had a great summer, filled with awesome memories. I suppose now we can look forward to the soon-to-come holiday season. What were the highlights of your summer?

Summer’s over? zomg … I guess it is!
The problem with being out of school is that one often forgets that summer is supposed to be a time of fun and relaxation. Well … that, and there’s practically nothing to do in Vancouver or this corner of Japan except shop and/or eat….
How’s Binky doing?
