And Third Place Goes To…
Dec 18th, 2007 by msdanielle
The Canon vs. Nikon debate that unintentionally began here a little while ago continues…everywhere, but the consensus is that these two tech giants dominate the SLR camera business. But who is the third place runner up?
News.com’s user poll asks, Who is the best SLR rival to Canon and Nikon? I’m interested to see what people say.
I don’t know very much about the other camera makers on this list, since I’m no tech-junkie. But I’ve heard good things about Leica, and Pentax and Olympus have been around awhile. I don’t know Sigma, and I’ve heard that Sony lenses aren’t that great, at least that’s what I heard.
For all of you who voiced your opinion one way or the other about Canon and/or Nikon, do you have an opinion about these other makers?
Btw, Canon rules… ![]()

IMO, cannon is always preferable, for they have almost perfected the technology on digital photography.
which do you have? i love my sd600 because it takes really great photos plus it was pretty inexpensive. all my videos seem to come out really well too
“Is that a Canon or Nikon?… Nikon! Go Away!”…. haha classic!
and *silence*
Admittedly I don’t know much about DSLRs (the only digital I have is a point and shoot), but I like my Canon SLR enough that I could never imagine using a Nikon.
As for the others, I’ve only been able to use a Leica once, but I liked it. A lot. Now if only I could find one that doesn’t cost more than my car…
yea i was checking out this Leica M8 review today on DPreview.com… pretty interesting…

If it’s not Canon in my house it’s a Sony …. can’t look past either.
You can’t beat Sony for Point and Click.

But Canon rules….
canons are good.. that was my first digital
Nikon!! I will bringing it to ASW2008 and watch you will see how beutiful it is =P
eh not much of a photographer. Wouldn’t know.
I haven’t used one, but I hear that Panasonics (Lumix) are supposed to be pretty solid…. but that’s for point and shoot. No idea about DSLR.
I have a LUMIX which has great build and features… the night time shots aren’t quite so good, but many digi-cams suffer similar problems.
